It is often hard to balance story and form in a piece of sculpture. Ravens ascend to the level of myth. They span cultures from Aesop’s fables to Native American origin legends. In other words, when you take on a raven as a subject, you are carrying a lot of preconceived baggage. Winter World is the fourth raven piece I have modeled over the past thirty years. I am getting closer to what I want to say about these noble birds.
