We view cormorants here in Colorado frequently. It’s always so mesmerizing and peaceful to watch them sun and dry themselves while standing on a branch or rock in one of the ponds or lakes in our area. They are very distinct in their dark profile, even from a distance and are readily identifiable from other species. I sculpted this piece in response to my younger sister’s ill health a few years ago, all the while thinking about this peaceful pose and setting as a tribute to her.
