Sunrise Sonata. . .no bird better shows attitude than a rooster: chest out, tail up, comb erect, he struts forward, meeting the break of day with a distinctive wakeup call. The passive and active elements of the bird’s form present an exciting design source for the sculptor. I have attempted to create a symbol of arrogance and spirit with this new work by combining the tail profusion and body mass form with controlled modeling of the head and feet.
