This intimate cove is located off the beaten path in the southeastern corner of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. The ocean’s surging energy forced between the vertical rocky walls of this inlet was captivating, and I particularly loved illuminating the patterns and transparency of the crashing shore break in the foreground on the right. I composed an echoing effect by emphasizing a crashing wave in the middle distance to the left as well as in the background. By creating this rhythmic effect and by modeling the surface of the water, the theme becomes the power of the surf and foam that ebbs and flows in nature.
