The “events” are currently frozen as coming attractions in the high Colorado mountains above me; they will happen when spring runoff roils and gushes recklessly into our valley as the Gunnison River. Crackling and snapping beneath my boots, the film of sun-melted snow has been pulled taut and brittle by the freezing temperature; vitreous shards of ice skid ahead, flashing in the last few minutes of sunlight. Translating all the thousands of pixels and remembered sensations into an evocative image will be challenging and fun. Something hot and liquid would be nice about now.
