I’ve always been in awe of the incomparable color in Marble Canyon. The pinks and siennas almost permeate the air itself, and the range of hues is marvelous. But the strata are often quite broken up, the rock walls fragmented and turbulent. I usually gravitate toward broader, more simplified forms, but the immensity of this place is difficult to resist. In Marble Towers, I decided to embrace the chaos, using a somewhat symmetrical composition to aid in bringing order to this wild, scarlet landscape.
