For years, collectors have asked me to sculpt otters. They are a fantastic subject because they can take on so many poses. Yet I never felt like I had my own invention when designing compositions. Creativity isn’t always on time, and years went by before I had an idea that was both a unique composition and my invention. This sculpture has everything I think a good sculpture should have: a nice composition, a wonderful shape, and a subject that we all know and appreciate. Sometimes in the studio—and in life—we just have to go with the flow.
