Tim Cherry


 
Tim Cherry’s sculptures are inspired by aspects of art nouveau and a love of wildlife. His years of experience as a professional guide in the wilderness of northern Canada have inspired him to create artistic interpretations of wildlife.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and raised in Nelson and Prince George, British Columbia, Cherry now lives in Branson, Missouri, with his wife, Linda, and daughter, Amber.

Cherry has exhibited his sculptures in nationally known shows, galleries, and exhibitions across the United States and in Canada, winning several prestigious awards. At the Eiteljorg Museum’s 2022 Quest for the West, he won the Cyrus Dallin Sculpture Award. In 2017, Cherry was one of eight artists showcased in Woolaroc Museum’s The Best of the Best Retrospective Exhibit and Sale, his sculpture River Mates was added to the permanent collection of the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and he won the Cyrus Dallin Award for Best Sculpture at the Eiteljorg’s Quest for the West. In 2010 he received the Margaret Hexter Prize at the National Sculpture Society’s 77th Annual Awards Exhibition.

In 2022, Cherry had three major installations: Garden’s Edge, Otter Motion, River Mates, Wise Guy (all monumental), Mother Goose, Racing RazorbackSlumber Duck, and Back Flap at the University of Arkansas’s Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas; Hare Raising and River Motion in Cheyenne, Wyoming; and the addition of House SitterRiver Motion, Otter Motion, and Bear Ball to his Rabbit Reach installation at Mercy Park’s Rotary Sculpture Garden in Joplin, Missouri. Other monumental installations/commissions include Rabbit Reach at the University of Virginia’s Children’s Hospital; House Sitter in the McNutt Sculpture Garden at the Briscoe Western Art Museum; Horned Frog at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum at Texas Christian University; Whole Hog, Bear Ball, and Discovery Garden, a group of seventeen sculptures, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital; and Wise Guy in the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Cherry is a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society, and a member of the National Sculptors’ Guild and the Society of Animal Artists. He and his work have been featured in the magazines Arabella: Canadian Art and Architecture, Art of the West, Cowboys & Indians, Southwest Art, Western Art Collector, and Wildlife Art.
