Years ago I had a farm in Maine that boasted 50 old McIntosh apple trees. One day my neighbor’s pigs got out and raided my orchard. Memories of the event inspired my new sculpture: Orchard Porker.
Throughout history the pig has been defamed, insulted, and condemned as morally and physically unworthy and stupid. However, pigs rank fourth in animal intelligence behind chimps, dolphins, and elephants. Collectors love the pig image, and over the years the creature has been one of my most popular subjects.
