I painted this portrait of my daughter from life outside in our garden. The challenging part about painting the figure outdoors is that you are constantly chasing the light on the figure and in the background. Every now and then the moving light pays off in that it makes you want to completely change the direction you were originally headed. That’s what happened in this piece with the warm, glowing light silhouetting her head.
