The story originates from our eastern sacred mountain, which is Mt. Blanca in Colorado. As the Navajo people migrated south, an important ceremonial prayer bundle was left behind at this mountain. A group of older men decided to return the prayer bundle to the original clan who had already moved westward. The blanket represents the first phase chief’s blanket. The turquoise stone painted on the blanket represents water and protection.
