The moment I begin a painting there is always trepidation. I begin with an idea, knowing it will inevitably change through my own process. This can be bittersweet, often because the inspiration comes from an experience or idea that is essentially perfect in the world I live in. As things change in my mind and on the easel, I can easily forget that inspiring force, and the translation and personal interpretation can lead to a very different outcome than the one I expected.
