The Eastern Sierra offers a great deal of inspiration. Painting outdoors, for me, is always about the light. Searching for the “perfect” location, I may pass by one and not give it much notice. I may also drive past it two or three times. Suddenly it’s a different scene as the afternoon light, with its warmth, will have changed the same scene from a mediocre one into one that becomes irresistible and must be painted.
