Denis Milhomme

Denis Milhomme spent his formative years in a small New England town, where he received art lessons from the age of eight. After moving to California, he continued his study of art through college and in workshops, and he has been painting professionally since 1983. Milhomme tries to bring to all who view his work a realistic glimpse of nature’s beauty. His use of detail, color, and composition helps re-create the emotional impact of actually being there and depicts his great love of nature. He has explored the American West from its mountains to its deserts, capturing its grandeur.

In 2022 and 2021, Milhomme received the Artist of Distinction Award at the Eiteljorg Museum’s Quest for the West Art Show and Sale. In 2018 he won the Buyers’ Choice Award at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Small Works, Great Wonders show. He also received the Franklin Mint Award of Merit. His many other awards include  the City of St. George Art Museum Purchase Award, the Arts for the Parks Regional Winner and Best in Landscape awards, and inclusion on the Arts for the Parks stamp and calendar.

He has been honored to participate in Quest for the West and the Settlers West Great American West Invitational shows for the past several years. He also has been invited to exhibit his works in the Small Works, Great Wonders winter art show at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. This year marks his 15th appearance at Masters of the American West.

Articles about his work have been published in Art of the West, Artist, Southwest Art, and Wildlife Art magazines.

Milhomme’s desire to create realistic renditions of beautiful places has not diminished as he strives to continue on the path he has chosen, bringing to the viewer the majesty of the nature and beauty around us.

Denis Milhomme is represented by Settlers West Galleries Inc., Tucson, Arizona.
