I spent seven years in Botswana, Africa, and Leopard Lookout is a part of an African series of sculptures in which I use one of the best known icons of the landscape: the flat-top acacia tree. Leopards can spend a lot of time in trees, where they have a visual advantage. Cats are the supplest of animals and lend themselves to interesting poses, which is the essence of my artistic inspiration: to work with beautiful abstract shapes I perceive.
